Before you start measuring color samples that are flat, uniform color, normal reflectance:

• Have CC Capture Installed and desired Instrument connected
• Some objects might be non-uniform. The built-in averaging feature can help - CC Capture stores information about sample uniformity during averaging. It is important not to set a tolerance that tighter then the uniformity of the sample. 
• Visually inspect the sample to ensure there are no defects, scratches, stains, or any artifacts that may change color values
• Color Inspector Default Color Specification is D50/2°, however, it is possible to define any specification (not available on demo account).
• For QC Tracking you can define a color by entering color values, and select it from Asset (Color Library or Color Palette) but it is strongly recommended to measure the physical sample with exactly the same kind of instrument that will be used for QC Tracking. Most users expect that different instruments should measure the same color sample identically, which is unrealistic. CC Color Inspector makes it possible to track the same object with two or more instruments - but each has to have its own measured reference of the reference color sample.
